Cake and canvas

The girls turned 6.5 years old June 17th and as per usual we celebrated their birthdays then.  We celebrated as a family the Thursday before because Josie was getting her BIG bike for her birthday and I wanted her to have it for camping that weekend.

Totally NOT spoiled at all by us...
When I was growing up our bike came at our 7th birthday from my grandma and grandpa.  It was a tradition that I am keeping alive accept we celebrate half birthday.  So Josie got her bike at 6.5 years and since Ella is NOT big enough for a bigger bike she will get hers next year.  She know this and is OK with it.  She took Josie's bike and is happy with that.

The girls received an art box from us for their birthday which was fitting because they were having a cake and canvas birthday party with their friends on the 17th.

Their party was everything paint/art.
The food was every color and the kids could "pick their palette"
red: strawberries, orange: carrots, yellow: chips, green: Green peppers, blue:blueberries, black: chocolate pudding and brown was hotdogs.
The setup and blank canvas'
The palette cake I made for them.  It was super easy!  I think it turned out nice.  I like doing cakes for them and it just adds to the theme.
Eli enjoying his palette.  Eli was a bit jealous of his sisters during their party and was a little firecracker which is great when we have paint around. ;)
We had made our number 6 out of paint sample cards in all the colors.  It was great summer craft project for the girls too.
Enjoying cake and ice cream.
Josie's finished butterfly painting
And like all canvas painting class the group picture of their final project.
I would say the party was a success and the girls were SUPER excited about it and I enjoyed planning for it and making their themed cake.  Although the paint aspect of it was a bit stressful, I think their friends had a great time and they all got to take their painting home.

Happy 6.5 years old girls!
