3 day weekend

We had a wonderful memorial day weekend.  Here's a few of the things we did.

couples golf on Friday

Saturday we met some friends at the lake.  We wanted to take the girls boating and then get home in time for a late nap.  We ended up staying all day and this mom was not prepared.  We had some snacks and that was about it.  We got by with the help of some great friends.  The girls never did get to go boating because a nap was needed just as the boat was hitting the water.  They still had lots of fun!

Thought both girls would be out on the way home from lake.  Ella was ready for more fun!

Sunday we went over to our friends house for a bonfire.  Ella sitting like a lady enjoying the fire.

Monday we did some things around the house and wanted to "treat" the girls with some ice cream.  Ok, Ok...mom wanted ice cream after mulching and doing laundry.  We tried an ice cream sundae for the girls, but they wanted the water with a straw in it more than the ice cream.  So we got them a shake and they LOVED it.  Josie's face says it all.  And Ella was very serious about not taking her treat!

And these last two pictures are just too cute.  We have been telling Josie to help her sister walk and she does!!!  She holds out both hands and Ella grabs them and they "walk" together.  They both laugh and love it!  The two together don't get very far.  So cute!

Not walking

Ella is still not walking, she really isn't even close.  She creeps along furniture, but the minute she lets go she is down.  She hasn't taken any steps, however I do see small  improvement over time.  I know her feet and brace wearing is putting her behind in walking and overall this really isn't a big deal, but for some reason this bothers me.

A friend of ours, who's daughter isn't even one yet, has taken her first steps and this is when Ella not walking bothers me.  Not because our friends daughter is walking, but because Ella isn't.  Ella is 17 months and has a full time walking (now running) sister, she can't keep up with and she wants too.  It's the little things she misses out on, or wants to do and can't.  Josie gets to walk out of daycare on her own, like a big girl and Ella gets carried.  I know she want's down and wants to do it herself.  I also catch myself chasing Josie and picking Josie up more simply because Josie is there first or higher up.  I try to be very conscious of this and still give Ella just as much attention as Josie.  I feel bad.  Not to mention we are going to be outside a lot this summer and it hurts her knees.

I have also researched delays in mobility for children with clubfeet and everything I have read is there is little to no delay.  Most are walking by 14 months.  And normal concern should be if they are not walking by 18 months.  That is less than a month away and I don't see her walking by then.  I have asked to have the AEA PT look at her and he said she is just weak and needs to build muscle strength and keep doing what we are doing.  I am now ready to just request regular therapy sessions at her 18month appointment.  We will see where that goes.

While surfing the internet I randomly found this blog.  Kind of a breath of fresh air.  This mother had mono mono twins and her daughter had weakness and wasn't walking at 2.  She had a walker and everything.  I like reading that she was literally where I am now.  She also writes how little and insignificant this is in the grand scheme (which I agree...).  Her daughter is walking fine now and has no issues.

Bishops

I was asked to take two pictures for a specific frame.  I had taken Holly's senior pictures and her grandma and grandpa asked me to do this little task.  They needed one of Vinny, their grandson (holly's brother) and one of them.  Here is what I took.  I hope they are happy with them.  I have to get the pictures to them real soon because I have actually taken these quite a while a go.

 What a handsome young man.

Tight Pants

I had my tight pants on today!  And what do I mean... my pre-pregnancy pants.  I got them on and buttoned and wore them to work.  Then I ate lunch and they were VERY tight!  Celebrating the little victories.  On is on and I couldn't have done that 5 months ago!  WOOOO!!!

And I got my hair cut.

Chaney Maternity

I am so happy Angie and Nate let me do their maternity pictures!!  She is just the cutest pregnant, it kinda makes me sick! ;)  Nate's busy time at work is just beginning so scheduling them was going to be tricky, so we did them at 28 weeks.  I can't wait to meet Mr. or Miss Chaney come July!  Here are just a few of the Chaney family..

Moms rule

But mine really does!  Mom, although you gave my $20 away in McDonalds and took some of my lemonade stand money, you've been a great mom!  I am really REALLY glad you didn't beat me or my brothers although I know we tried your patience many times!  And an FYI the best moms get upgraded to grandma! :)  Sorry we couldn't be with you to celebrate with you, but hope you had a great day and enjoy your plant!

Here's how we celebrated here in Iowa...
The girls got mom a stand for her bike so she can "ride" it indoors!  Thanks girls...I'm sure I will use this while you nap this summer.

We went to 9am church together

And then to mothers day brunch!  It was delicious...I was even spoiled with a mimosa!  YUM!

And then a nap!
