Spring is in the air?

After being cooped up all winter with the girls, we are ready for some warmer weather so we can be outside.  We had a few days of mid 50's so I thought a walk was in order.  I bundled the girls up (a little too much) and out we went.  It was nice to get out with them, they slept the whole time and I got a tich sweaty.
We are ready for more nice days and plan to take full advantage of nice weather!
Time for mom to get back into shape!

Dad even went on a walk with us.  He never would walk with me before so these 2 girls must be something special :-)
Come on warmer weather!!

Josie is ready!!

Baptisms and Godmothers

The girls were baptized on Saturday, March 9th at St. Patrick's church by Fr. Patrick.
It was a very nice to have everyone here.  We had lunch and opened gifts before church and then church was at 5pm.

Waiting for girls to get baptized

I picked two of my friends to be godmothers to the girls.  Josie's godmother is Lynn Schulte and Ella's godmother is Melissa Blegen.  I didn't have much difficulty picking their godmothers.  I knew who I wanted with out much thought.  I knew because both godmothers incorporate god into their everyday lives and they incorporate it in to their children's lives. Most importantly God and the church is in important to them.  I felt that Christ is present in their lives and they would make it be present in our girls' lives.  They would be good "religious role models."  For these reasons, they were chosen.  I am so pleased they said yes, even though I think both were very SHOCKED I picked them!
It really does mean a lot to me to have them be their god mothers.

Before we went to church we had lunch at our house and just hung out.  We had quite a few people at our house!  We decided with the amount of people we would cater lunch.  We had Bubba Q's BBQ pulled pork sandwiches with macaroni and cheese with bacon. Mmmm!!  and corn!   I thought it was good and was glad we had extras!

The girls received cute books like God Made Me and a child bible and crosses

This little cutie enjoyed the cake

Aunt Nancy and cousin Courtney made it ALL the way from Ohio
 Uncle Josh and cousin Sophia

Glorianna could cause a lot of noise with that thing.  I think she needs one of her own, right mom?!!!

Brody!  He is so darn cute..this was just before his meltdown

I think we have a babysitter in a few short years!  Rosetta holding Josie and loving it!

Our friends Nancy and Bill Bishop stayed after mass to watch the baptism

It was a very nice day and glad everything went smoothly.  We were glad of all the people were able to make it and hope people come again.  Thanks everyone!!

Worst Day

Today is the worst day ever...
I went back to work today and it was hard to leave my two little pumpkins!  Grandma S from Ohio is staying with us and keeping the girls, so I know they are in good hands.  We want to delay going to daycare as long as we can so the girls don't get sick.

I am re-thinking my decision to go back to work.  I really truely think I want to work eventually, but it sure was hard to leave though.  Im hoping that it gets easier, which I think it will.  When I do take the girls to day care they will be in the same building as me.  They will be one floor down from my office so I will be able to peek on them or even eat lunch with them!!  I can't beat that!

Here is a video of how the girls felt about my first day of work!

Ok, it was really only me that felt that way!

Like father, like daughter?

Both Grandma's came to Iowa this weekend and I asked if they could each bring a baby photo of us so we could compare them to our girls.  Here is what we have...

Top left picture is Joey as a newborn and top right is Joey at 7 months
Bottom left is Ella and the bottom right is Josie.
The only way you would know they were mine is the fact that I carried them.  Joey definitely has some "mini me's"

What do you think?

March Birthday Madness

There are 3 birthdays in March in my family, my dad's, my grandma's and my brother's.  That usually means a month with A LOT of cake, however since we moved to Iowa we don't get to celebrate those as much since we don't make it back to Ohio.  Last March, we did get to make it back for my Grandma's 85th surprise party.  This year my dad and grandma came to Iowa for the baptism of the girls and I thought we needed to have a birthday celebration for them.

After dinner, we opened presents and then ate cake and ice cream.  I was glad I was able to celebrate my dad and grandma's birthday this year.   Maybe every year they can come to Iowa to celebrate!!!!
Happy Birthday Dad and Grandma!!!
