3 day weekend

Our three day weekend included tent camping for he first time with the girls. It was terrible, although dad might argue.  As per usual for Memorial Day weekend it rained, the girls went to bed late and woke up early and I was exhausted.

After much coaxing with mom, the girls finally fell asleep.

Then at 6am that stupid doggy door of the tent was opened by a toddler causing it to rain in and everyone getting woke up.  Dad tried to get them to go back to sleep but that was unsuccessful.

Josie decided she needed to snuggle with me.  After about 15 minutes of "listening to it rain," I said I was ready to go home.  We packed up and were on the road, hit a McDonalds for breakfast (roughing it..) and were home by 9am.

This picture cracks me up! Look at Ella eating her sandwich.

After Sunday naps and showering we were ready to hit the lake with the boat on Monday.

Joined by some friends, we had a great day!
This mom also learned a lesson on ginger skin and the sun! The girls will be wearing swim shirts from this point on!  Oops!

The things kids say

The things the girls say lately are just too cute. I want to blog about them so I can remember this cute stuff!

The girls were going down for a nap and here is the set-up
Ella has her blanket draped over her crib and is hiding behind it and pops up and says "boo" to Josie
Josie-Ella come here
Ella- no, Josie
Josie- why?
Ella-Its time to go night night

Ella- "come, come" waving her fingers at me to come

Josie gives me hug patting me on the back and says "I love you, mama"

Me to J "you excited to go on daddy's  boat this weekend?"
J "daddy's boat is at baby dereks"
Me "we will pick it up from baby dereks and go on the water"
J "and john too"
Me. You want john to go?
J. Yes
John is my friend Ashley's husband. They were the last ones to be on the boat with us.

"You guys are going to be in big girl beds soon."  Ella says, "no, I want a tent".
"You want a tent instead of a big girl bed?"
E-"yeah, I can hide"
Seriously the conversation today after camping !!  So friggin cute!

On your marks..

Get set
GO!

This past Saturday was SE Iowa race for the cure.  It is to raise awareness and eradicate breast cancer. This year we laced up up our running shoes in honor of our friend Jody. She has undergone chemo, mastectomy and double reconsrtuction surgery in the past 2 years. She was named as honorary breast cancer survivor this year.

We even practiced our running for this 5k

Because Joey was on his annual fishing trip it was just the girls and I. That meant I was pushing a double stroller while running :(
My view during the run

Even though I was pushing the girls my time actually wasn't too bad.  It was a great morning for a race and even greater to run for Jody and all other survivors.

Jody with her "walking for knockers" shirt.  Honorary survivor!
